Hey Reader, Greetings from Bogota, Colombia. 🇨🇴 I'm on vacation this week! It's my first true vacation unplugging (mostly 😬) in a long time. BTW this newsletter was written on the flight, with a few edits in between at a coffee shop, and scheduled for release. While the last 12 months have included a lot of traveling, they've mostly been for work, weddings, family functions, or other obligatory commitments that have made trips feel more fleeting and rushed in nature, so I'm really looking forward to some downtime exploring a new country. Sharing a few photos below. I first became interested in visiting Colombia because I kept overhearing it in travel conversations. A common perception of Colombia is that it's fraught with danger, but I've found that similar to visiting almost any other country, you can avoid dangerous situations by using common sense and adhering to general precautions. It also seems that the government has prioritized efforts to create safer environments for tourism because there’s TONS of police, guards, and K9 dogs in most populated areas. My itinerary includes Bogota, Medellin, and Cartagena. While I've only been to Bogota thus far, I've loved seeing the rich culture, a pretty active community (lots of biking, hiking, running, etc), the most colorful murals and artwork, and awesome vibes. If you're mulling over an international getaway, I would deff recommend Colombia. OTHER THINGS ⭐Other than that, the podcast is officially on break. If we know each other IRL or we’re connected on socials, you have probably heard me talk about Fall in MalayaLove (FIM). We are officially in "FIM season" which means it's that time of the year where my brain has become majority occupied with all the ins and outs of organizing our next big speed dating event in NYC coming up in June. If you know of any single Malayalee Christians who might be interested in attending this speed dating event, I would love for you to share! Have them submit an application HERE. Since the pod is on break, I wanted to share some older episodes for you to listen to (or re-listen to). Take a look below! ⬇️ ON THE PODCAST 🎙️Episode 18 🎧 Confessions of a Divorce Attorney: What to Expect, Prenups, Postnups and Everything in Between with Attorney Maliha Siddiqui. This was one of the most downloaded episodes of 2022. I do believe we live in a society where people favor getting to the alter the fastest rather than taking their time to cultivate a foundation, figure out discerning patterns of a quality marriage, and talk through financial and legal implications. No one knows what to expect from divorce until it happens. In this episode, we talk about divorce within South Asian communities and answer all those questions everyone should have some knowledge of. I definitely think conversations like the one we had on this podcast episode are worth becoming familiar with before you get engaged or married. Listen 🎧 on Apple , Spotify, or on any other listening platform here FROM THE COMMUNITY⚡️If you're a POC founder, business owner, or entrepreneur, check out these free coaching sessions from Leadership Coach, Arshi Kherani that she’s offering for the month of March only. She has an entrepreneurial background in the startup space, a savvy business mind, and focuses her time on leadership coaching now. You can use these sessions to talk through challenges you're experiencing, gain insight into fresh perspectives, or bounce any ideas you have. I would NOT recommend things like this unless I absolutely believed in them and I really believe my girl Arshi can help you out. (Plus, they're free so what do you have to lose?)

Hey Reader, Happy Wednesday and welcome back to an issue of The Brown Girl Podcast newsletter! It's been a long time, 8 months exactly, since I last drafted an email newsletter. Mentally I'm here and ready to dive back into creative outlets (but really, I'm sitting in my room in a hoodie from 15 years ago, drinking coffee, and wondering how it's already fall🍁). One of the things I've learned to appreciate in my 30s is slowing down; going at a pace that feels right for me based on my current...

WEEKLY MUSINGS 🌺 I was recently reading another email newsletter called Downtime and stumbled upon this phrase that resonated: "Don't pick green tomatoes." No, it's not gardening advice. But...
